ABIA STATE POLICE COMMAND STRENGTHENS COLLABORATION WITH FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES IN THE STATE

In furtherance of strengthening inter-agency collaboration, today, 31/08/2026, the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, psc+, mnips, JP, paid a courtesy visit to the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Homeland Security, Fire and Medical Emergency, Mr. Chukwunneye Alajemba, as well as the Chief Fire Officer of the State Fire Service.

The purpose of the visit was to enhance collaboration between the Police and the Fire Service. The CP commended the Governor for the ongoing retrofitting works and upgrading of equipment in the State Fire Service, stressing that every agency plays a vital role and improved collaboration will yield greater results.

He emphasized the need for coordinated emergency response, intelligence sharing on fire-related incidents such as arson, joint training and simulation exercises, and seamless communication during emergencies to ensure timely intervention, protection of lives and property, and effective post-incident investigations.

He also obtained the Fire Service emergency contact lines for Umuahia and Aba and shared to various Divisions and Formations of the Police Command to aid in arson-related investigations and other emergencies as the need arises.

The CP was warmly received by the SSA on Homeland Security, Fire and Medical Emergency, the Chief Fire Officer, and their team. They expressed appreciation for the visit and assured him of their full support and cooperation.

The CP was thereafter taken on a tour of the facility, which is currently undergoing renovation.
