Customs says it generated N1.38 trillion in July and August 2023.

The Nigeria Customs Service collected N1.38 trillion in revenue in July and August 2026, its spokesperson said on Tuesday. Deputy Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, National Public Relations Officer of the Service, gave the figure at a joint security agencies briefing in Abuja.

He said the Service collected N784.65 billion in July and N595.58 billion in August. The Apapa Area Command recorded N323 billion in July, its highest monthly collection so far.

On 18 August 2026, the same command collected N28.1 billion in a single day, beating its previous daily record of N20.1 billion set in September 2025. Maiwada said the results came from technology, faster trade processing, and stronger border checks.

In the two months, Customs processed 90,985 Single Goods Declarations (55,731 in July and 35,254 in August) and 8,873 Pre-Arrival Assessment Reports. Exports also rose.

The Lilypond Export Command recorded $792.57 million in export value in the second quarter of 2026, up 24.35 per cent from $599.60 million a year earlier. Export containers rose 32.27 per cent to 5,510. Agricultural exports reached $422.09 million. Manufactured goods almost tripled to $350.67 million. Collections under the Nigeria Export Supervision Scheme rose 9.52 per cent to N5.38 billion. Between July and 26 August, the command processed 9,322 export containers of farm produce, manufactured goods, solid minerals and other items. On anti-smuggling, Area Commands and Federal Operations Units seized goods with a Duty Paid Value of more than N61.3 billion.

Operations included interceptions in Adamawa/Taraba, Ogun, Seme and FOU Zone A, covering petrol, rice, sugar, cannabis, cigarettes, elephant tusks and other contraband. Maiwada said cooperation with other agencies and technology remained central to Customs’ work on revenue and security.
