ARISE YOUTH CENTRE: REP ESSET HAILS GOV ENO’S IMPACT, ASSURES MASSIVE APC SUPPORT IN NSIT ATAI

The political leader of Nsit Atai Local Government Area and Member representing Uyo/Uruan/Nsit Atai/Ibesikpo Asutan Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Mark Udo Esset, PhD, has commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD for his administration’s development interventions in Nsit Atai, assuring that the projects would further strengthen support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

Esset made the remarks, Wednesday, at the commissioning of an ARISE Youth Development Centre in Nsit Atai, one of 39 projects lined up by the Akwa Ibom State Government to commemorate the 39th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State.

Governor Umo Eno was represented at the occasion by the State Chairman of the APC, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, who charged the youths to take full advantage of the facility by acquiring relevant skills, developing their talents and embracing opportunities that would enable them to become self-reliant and productive contributors to the state’s economy.

The Youth Development Centre is part of the Youth-Friendly Centres being established by the state government across the 31 Local Government Areas to harness the energy, creativity and talents of Akwa Ibom youths and channel them into skills acquisition, enterprise development, employment opportunities and sustainable livelihoods.

Speaking at the event, Rep. Mark Esset said the projects and interventions of the state government had given political leaders in the 10 wards of Nsit Atai tangible achievements to present to the people.

“Your Excellency, all of us as leaders have spoken. In the 10 wards of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, we have what to tell our people and why they should vote for the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming election,” he said.

He described the level of development in the area as evidence of the Governor’s people-driven leadership.

“In Nsit Atai Local Government Area, campaigning is a formality because we have tangible achievements to show our people, courtesy of your people-driven leadership,” Esset stated.

The federal lawmaker also expressed appreciation to Governor Eno for his repeated visits to Nsit Atai, noting that the Governor had visited the area the previous week, was present at the commissioning and was expected back again on Saturday.

“On behalf of all the leaders, I want to tell His Excellency to go home and sleep and await January. We will respond to all the good things you have done for Nsit Atai through our votes,” Esset said.

He recalled Nsit Atai’s longstanding electoral record, saying the local government had consistently been among the first to return election results.

“Nsit Atai has always been among the first local government areas to return election results. We have always been record-breakers, and we intend to maintain that tradition,” he stated.

Esset also disclosed that he had facilitated the immediate installation of solar-powered streetlights around the Youth Development Centre and the entire local government council premises to enhance security and protect the facilities.

He further announced plans to bring experts from the Rural Electrification sector by January to train youths in the installation of solar-powered streetlights.

“By January, I will bring experts from the Rural Electrification sector to train our youths in the installation of solar-powered streetlights. We are moving towards a green economy, and this is one way of complementing the ARISE Agenda of your administration,” he explained.

The lawmaker urged young people in the area to take full advantage of the opportunities provided through the centre, stressing that the facility could open new pathways for skills, enterprise and sustainable livelihoods.

“Let us make good use of this opportunity and take full advantage of this facility. We have not had anything like this before, and the Governor has been very kind to us,” he said.

Mark Esset also commended the Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, for complementing the Governor’s development efforts in the area.

He specifically referenced the administrative building located behind the Youth Development Centre, the perimeter fencing and the renovation and transformation of the local government council headquarters as part of the interventions complementing the state government’s efforts.

The commissioning formed part of activities marking the 39th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State and brought together political leaders, government officials, community leaders, youths and residents of Nsit Atai.

The Youth Development Centre is expected to provide a platform for skills acquisition, enterprise development, employment opportunities and youth empowerment, supporting the state government’s objective of converting the potential of Akwa Ibom youths into productive and sustainable livelihoods.

“With the support of the elders, we assure His Excellency that his dreams for Nsit Atai will be translated into reality,” Esset stated.
