POLICE BUST MOTORCYCLE THEFT SYNDICATE, RECOVER SIX STOLEN MOTORCYCLES, HAND OVER THREE RECOVERED VEHICLES TO OWNERS

The Kano State Police Command wishes to inform the public that it has recorded a major breakthrough in its sustained fight against property crimes.

On 22/09/2026, a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Theft and Receiving Stolen Property involving the theft of one Bajaj Boxer motorcycle was reported at Sabon Gari Police Division and transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigation. Going forward, operatives arrested two suspects namely Maharazu Mohammed, male, aged 22 years and Hassan Abdullahi, male, aged 22 years, both of PRP Quarters, Kano.

In the course of the investigation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime and provided useful information which led to the arrest of additional six suspects, bringing the total number of arrested suspects to eight. Sustained follow-up and search led to the recovery of six motorcycles suspected to be stolen as exhibits, comprising two Motor B motorcycles, three Haojue motorcycles and one Companion motorcycle.

This intelligence-led operation was conducted under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Police Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, SFIPMA, MNIM, MNIPS, MASIS, which is in line with the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, aimed at strengthening proactive and intelligence-led policing, robust community partnership and protection of lives and property.

In a related development, the Command has also handed over three previously recovered motor vehicles to their rightful owners after thorough verification and documentation, in line with its commitment to justice and restoration of property to victims of crime.

Investigation is still ongoing with a view to recovering more stolen motorcycles and apprehending other fleeing members of the syndicate.

The Commissioner of Police commends the detectives for their professionalism and reiterates the Command’s unwavering resolve to make Kano State uncomfortable for criminals. He urges members of the public to continue to support the Police with timely and credible information and assures that all arrested suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

Members of the public whose motorcycles were stolen are advised to come forward for identification and claim of the recovered motorcycles with proof of ownership.
