AMBASSADOR IFEANYI LAWRENCE UGWUANYI PRESENTS LETTERS OF CREDENCE TO GREEK PRESIDENT CONSTANTINE AN. TASSOULAS

His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Hellenic Republic, has formally commenced his diplomatic engagement in Greece following the presentation of his Letters of Credence to His Excellency Constantine An.

Tassoulas, President of the Hellenic Republic, in a ceremony held at the Presidential Mansion in Athens on 16 September 2026. The ceremony was attended by senior officials of the Hellenic Republic, including the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, senior officials of the Presidency, the Chief of Protocol, the Director of the Military Office and the Director of the Diplomatic Office.

During his audience with President Tassoulas, Ambassador Ugwuanyi conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as well as the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to President Tassoulas, and the Government and people of the Hellenic Republic. Ambassador Ugwuanyi reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation between Nigeria and Greece, in line with Nigeria’s foreign policy thrust anchored on the 4Ds – Demography, Development, Diaspora and Democracy.

He underscored the strategic importance of shipping and the Blue Economy, given their potential to drive economic growth, advance maritime development and strengthen connectivity between Nigeria and Greece. He also highlighted opportunities for enhanced cooperation in trade and investment, energy, tourism and education, while noting the important role of cultural and people-to-people exchanges in fostering mutual understanding and strengthening the broader relations between the two countries. Ambassador Ugwuanyi expressed his readinesst to work closely with the Government of the Hellenic Republic to identify new practical areas of cooperation, strengthen institutional partnerships, facilitate increased private-sector engagement, and advance initiatives that serve the shared interests of Nigeria and Greece.

The presentation of Letters of Credence marks a new phase in NigeriaGreece relations, with renewed emphasis on translating the longstanding goodwill between the two countries into practical cooperation, stronger economic partnerships and mutually beneficial outcomes.
