GOVERNOR YAHAYA ASSURES SWORN-IN CORPS MEMBERS OF SAFETY, WELFARE IN GOMBE
The Executive Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has assured newly sworn-in members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) of his administration’s continued commitment to their safety, welfare and well-being throughout their service year in the state.
The Governor gave the assurance while declaring open the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I Orientation Course and administering the swearing-in ceremony at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, Government Science Technical College, Amada, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Abdu Yusuf Kwadon, Governor Yahaya congratulated the Corps Members on their induction into the NYSC Scheme and welcomed them to Gombe State.
He described Gombe as a peaceful and welcoming state, urging the Corps Members to embrace the culture and values of their host communities, respect local traditions and contribute meaningfully to the development of the state and the nation.
The Governor also acknowledged the delay in the completion of the permanent NYSC Orientation Camp at Boltongo, Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area, which was intended to host the current orientation exercise.
He apologised for the inconvenience arising from the continued use of the temporary camp and assured that efforts would be intensified to expedite the completion of the permanent facility.
According to him, the state government would continue to provide the necessary support towards improving the welfare and comfort of Corps Members serving in Gombe.
Governor Yahaya commended the NYSC Management, camp officials, security agencies and other stakeholders for their efforts towards ensuring the successful commencement of the orientation exercise.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Chinwe Nnenna Nwachuku, welcomed the Prospective Corps Members to Gombe State on behalf of the Director General, Brigadier General O. O. Nafiu, and the NYSC Management.
Nwachuku congratulated the Corps Members on their successful induction and expressed appreciation to the Gombe State Government and other stakeholders for their support towards the Scheme.
She urged the Corps Members to conduct themselves responsibly, remain disciplined and security conscious, and obey the rules and regulations guiding the NYSC programme.
The State Coordinator also encouraged them to see their service year as an opportunity to promote national unity, build meaningful relationships and contribute positively to their host communities.
The highlight of the ceremony was the administration of the Oath of Allegiance to the Prospective Corps Members by Hon. Justice Daurabo Luka Dalang, representing the Chief Judge of Gombe State.
The oath-taking formally inducted the Corps Members into the NYSC Scheme and marked the official commencement of their national service journey in Gombe State.
The ceremony was attended by government officials, members of the NYSC Management, security agencies, collaborating organisations, traditional rulers, camp officials and other stakeholders.
