COMMUNITIES HAVE A VITAL ROLE IN BOOSTING TROOPS’ OPERATIONS, SAYS GOC 1 DIVISION

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, has called on local communities to maintain cooperation and timely information sharing with troops to bolster ongoing Army operations. He made the call while adressing some members of the Dokolo community in Machika Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State during operational assessment visit to 17 Brigade Area of Responsibility on Tuesday, 27 October 2026.

Addressing frontline troops during the visit, Major General Wase charged them to uphold high standards of professionalism, remain vigilant, and maintain readiness at all times. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Army Headquarters and Division leadership to prioritize troop welfare, operational capability, and logistics support to maximize combat efficiency.

Accompanied by the Commander 17 Brigade, Brigadier General Ishaya Ibrahim, the GOC also visited troops at Forward Operating Base Faskari. During the visit, Major General Wase commended the troops for their resilience and dedication to duty. Extolling their high morale despite challenging terrain, he assured them of the continous Nigerian Army’s effort in addressing their administrative and logistics need.

Relatedly, the GOC paid a condolence visit to Dutsinma to convey the sympathies of the Chief of Army Staff to the family and followers of the late Sheikh Yahaya Masussuka, who was recently assassinated. Major General Wase appealed for calm, urging the community to remain law-abiding while security agencies intensify investigations to bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to justice.
