CAS JOINS DEFENCE LEADERS AT AFRIDEX 2026 TO STRENGTHEN AFRICA’S SECURITY CAPABILITIES

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has participated in the Africa International Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX) 2026 in Lagos, alongside the Honourable Minister of Defence, the Minister of State for Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff and other Service Chiefs. The event, holding from 26–29 October 2026 at Eko Atlantic, Lagos, featured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as Special Guest of Honour, represented by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio. The gathering highlights Nigeria’s commitment to modernising its Armed Forces, strengthening defence partnerships and advancing collective security across Africa.

AFRIDEX provides a vital platform for African nations to engage global defence manufacturers, technology innovators, policymakers and military leaders in addressing evolving security challenges. Through exhibitions, technical demonstrations and strategic engagements, the event promotes defence innovation, technology transfer, interoperability and indigenous defence production across the air, land, maritime, cyber and space domains. For Africa, these opportunities are crucial to building more self-reliant defence institutions and developing effective responses to terrorism, insurgency, transnational organised crime and other threats to regional peace and stability.

For Nigeria, AFRIDEX supports national security priorities by creating opportunities to acquire advanced technologies, strengthen local defence-industrial capacity and improve the operational effectiveness of the Armed Forces. The participation of the CAS underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to technological innovation, mission-focused capability development and collaboration that enhances airpower effectiveness in joint operations. Ultimately, the exhibition offers a pathway to translate shared expertise into practical solutions, strengthen Nigeria’s defence capabilities and contribute to a safer and more secure Africa.
