ECOWAS IS MOVING TOWARD BETTER HARMONIZATION OF MONETARY AND FINANCIAL STATISTICS!
In Lomé, Togo, experts from central banks and regional institutions are gathering from November 2 to 7, 2026, for the meeting of the Committee of Experts on the Harmonization of Monetary and Financial Statistics, organized by the West African Monetary Agency (WAMA) in collaboration with the ECOWAS Commission.
At the heart of the discussions is the need for reliable, consistent, and comparable monetary and financial data at the regional level. Participants are working, in particular, to finalize a harmonized metadata framework, share experiences among central banks, and assess progress made in implementing the regional action plan adopted in January 2025.
By strengthening data collection and compilation methods, this meeting aims to contribute to better monitoring of the region’s economic and financial situation and to the consolidation of West African economic and monetary integration.
Reliable and harmonized data to better understand our economy and build the region’s future.
