PRESS RELEASE

ABIA POLICE COMMAND STRENGTHENS INTER-AGENCY COMMUNICATION THROUGH THREE-DAY MEDIA TRAINING

1. The Abia State Police Command, through its Public Relations Department, in collaboration with Her Bold Tribe, is organising a three-day Media Audio-Visual Training Programme aimed at strengthening communication, publicity and media engagement capacities of Police Public Relations Officers and their counterparts from sister security agencies in the state.

2. The initiative, conceived by the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, psc(+), mnips, JP, is in line with the Vision of the Inspector-General of Police on Professionalism, Intelligence-Led Policing and Community Policing.

3. The training is designed to equip Public Relations Officers and media personnel from the Police and sister security agencies with the requisite knowledge, practical skills and modern techniques for effective media engagement, audio-visual content creation, responsible communication and strategic dissemination of security information to the public.

4. It also seeks to strengthen inter-agency collaboration in information management, enhance public enlightenment and promote accurate, timely and responsible communication, particularly as the state approaches the 2027 general elections.

5. The programme forms part of the Command’s broader capacity-building initiatives aimed at ensuring that personnel across various departments and formations are adequately trained, professionally equipped and strategically prepared to discharge their responsibilities effectively, especially in maintaining public confidence and supporting a peaceful electoral process.

6. The Abia State Police Command remains committed to professionalism, institutional collaboration, continuous capacity development and proactive community engagement. The Command will continue to strengthen partnerships with sister security agencies and other relevant stakeholders towards ensuring a safe, peaceful and secure Abia State.
