COMMANDER, 6 BRIGADE COMMISSIONS REMODELLED HEADQUARTERS COMPLEX, OTHER FACILITIES AT 20 MODEL BATTALION, SERTI

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency and improve the welfare of troops, the Commander, 6 Brigade/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, commissioned a newly remodelled and renovated Battalion Headquarters Complex at 20 Model Battalion, Serti Baruwa, Taraba State.

The commissioning ceremony also featured the unveiling of other renovated facilities, including the Quarter Guard, Photo Stand, and Commanding Officer’s Accommodation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Brigadier General Akaliro stated that the projects were aimed at providing a more conducive working and living environment for personnel, thereby boosting their morale and enhancing operational effectiveness. He noted that the initiatives were in line with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff.

The Brigade Commander commended the Commanding Officer, 20 Model Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel SA Muhammed, for his initiative, foresight, and commitment to improving the facilities and welfare of personnel.

Following the commissioning ceremony, Brigadier General Akaliro embarked on an inspection tour of the barracks, including the Medical Centre, to assess existing challenges and identify areas requiring attention. He assured the troops that the identified challenges would be addressed accordingly.

In his welcome remarks, the Commanding Officer, 20 Model Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel SA Muhammed, expressed appreciation to the Commander, 6 Brigade, for his purposeful leadership, support, and commitment to the welfare and operational effectiveness of the Battalion.

The ceremony was attended by heads of sister security agencies, traditional rulers, soldiers’ wives, Corps members, and personnel of 20 Model Battalion, among other guests.

To conclude the event, the Brigade Commander addressed the troops and charged them to remain disciplined, professional, and committed to the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities. He also commended them for their sacrifices and dedication to maintaining peace and security in their area of responsibility.

The event featured the presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph, marking the successful commissioning of the renovated facilities and reaffirming the Brigade’s commitment to improving the welfare, morale, and operational readiness of its personnel.
