ECOWAS COMMISSION PRESIDENT, H.E. GENERAL BIRAME DIOP, PAYS OFFICIAL VISIT TO THE OFFICE OF AUDITOR GENERAL OF ECOWAS INSTITUTIONS

Abuja, Nigeria, 09 October 2026 : The President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. General Birame DIOP, paid an official visit today to the Office of the Auditor General of ECOWAS Institutions in Abuja, Nigeria. He was accompanied by the Vice President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Anthony Oluwatosin Ogunjimi, and the Commissioner for Internal Services, Dr Kalilou Sylla. The visit enabled the President and his delegation to engage with the institution’s management and staff, gain first-hand insight into its operational challenges, and explore collaborative solutions involving the Commission, its institutions, and Member States.

In her welcome remarks, the Auditor General of ECOWAS Institutions, Ms Carla Maria Borges BETTENCOURT, expressed her sincere appreciation to General DIOP and his delegation for the visit, describing it as evidence of his unwavering commitment to the welfare and advancement of the ECOWAS Commission, its institutions, and agencies. She assured the President of the Commission of the Auditor General’s Office’s commitment to promoting a transparent, accountable, resilient, and integrated West Africa.

In response, the President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. General Birame DIOP, emphasised the need for the management and staff of the ECOWAS Commission, its institutions, and agencies to work hard and strengthen collaboration and solidarity to deliver efficient, impactful services for the benefit of Community citizens. “It is time for all of us to roll up our sleeves, work hard, and collaborate in a spirit of solidarity so that, together, we can deliver the benefits of regional integration to our Community citizens,” General DIOP declared.
