GOC 2 DIVISION VISITS 321 ARTILLERY REGIMENT IN ISEYIN, OYO STATE, CHARGES TROOPS TO DEAL DECISIVELY WITH SECURITY CHALLENGES
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, has charged troops of the newly established 321 Artillery Regiment in Iseyin, Oyo State, to deal decisively with security challenges, remain vigilant and maintain professional conduct within their Area of Responsibility (AOR). The GOC gave the charge during his maiden operational visit to the Regiment’s temporary location on 17 October 2026.
Highlighting the security challenges in the area, particularly the regiment’s proximity to the Old Oyo National Park, Maj Gen Mahmuda urged the troops to take all necessary operational measures to prevent criminal elements from gaining a foothold in their AOR and to bring glory to the NA.
He expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for the expansion of the NA, noting that the development would greatly enhance the Army’s capacity to address contemporary security challenges. He also urged the regiment to perform its artillery role effectively. The GOC also charged them to ensure they maintain cordial relationship with their host community.
The visit underscored the GOC’s commitment to ensuring that newly established formations and units under his command settle in and perform their assigned responsibilities effectively. It also provided an opportunity for him to interact with troops deployed to various locations across the Division’s AOR.
