GOVERNOR ENO CHARGES NYSC MEMBERS TO PROMOTE PEACE, UNITY
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D., has charged members of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to promote peace, unity and the culture of hospitality as they begin their service year in the State.
The Governor gave the charge on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, during the closing ceremony of the NYSC Orientation Exercise at the State Orientation Camp, Ikot Itie, Nsit Atai Local Government Area.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Governor Eno congratulated the corps members on the successful completion of their orientation exercise and welcomed them to Akwa Ibom, describing the State as one of Nigeria’s most peaceful and hospitable destinations.
He noted that the NYSC, established in 1973, was created to promote national integration, unity, community development and skills acquisition, urging the corps members to uphold these ideals throughout their service.
Governor Eno said the State Government’s additional stipend for corps members reflects their important role in advancing the ARISE Agenda, particularly through their contributions to education and community development.
He also disclosed that outstanding corps members have been recognised and rewarded by his administration, charging the new corps members to distinguish themselves through excellence and service.
Describing Akwa Ibom as a vibrant, peaceful and emerging tourism hub, the Governor urged the corps members to embrace the State as their home, make friends and integrate with their host communities.
“Take this to be your state, make friends, and integrate. You will be accepted as a people,” he said.
He appreciated the Commissioners for Youth Development, Education, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Humanitarian Affairs, the NYSC State Coordinator, Service Commanders and other stakeholders for their contributions to the successful orientation exercise.
