The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mahmud Adam Kambari, FCNA, FICA, has reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment, alongside its agencies, to strengthening service delivery and ensuring efficient, timely and citizen-centred public service.

Kambari stated this on Thursday, 3 September 2026, when the Acting National Coordinator/Chief Executive Officer of the Service Compact with All Nigerians (SERVICOM), Mrs. Helen Lawal, and her team paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry as part of engagements on the implementation of SERVICOM policies and initiatives. The meeting was held at the Permanent Secretary’s Conference Room, Abuja.

Kambari described effective service delivery as a wake-up call to all public servants, stressing that SERVICOM was established to improve the quality, efficiency and responsiveness of services rendered to citizens.

He said SERVICOM had an important responsibility to ensure that public servants take their duties seriously and discharge their responsibilities efficiently and effectively in accordance with established standards.

He further directed all Departments in the Ministry to designate SERVICOM Desk Officers who would coordinate service delivery matters and ensure effective implementation of the Ministry’s Service Charter.

He also urged staff to prioritise prompt and efficient service delivery, particularly by ensuring that official files, correspondence and assignments are treated and concluded as and when due.

Kambari commended the Acting Director overseeing the SERVICOM Department and her team for their commitment and efforts towards improving service delivery in the Ministry.

In recognition of his commitment to the SERVICOM ideals, Kambari was decorated as the SERVICOM Champion during the visit.

Speaking earlier, the Acting National Coordinator/CEO of SERVICOM, Mrs. Helen Lawal, said the quality of governance was largely determined by the quality of services delivered to citizens and the extent to which such services meet their needs and expectations.

She noted that the public service remained the major point of contact between citizens and government, making efficient, accessible and responsive service delivery critical to good governance.

Helen highlighted the mandate of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, which includes formulating, implementing and updating the National Aviation Master Plan for the overall development of Nigeria’s aviation industry, as well as setting and implementing safety and security requirements in line with the Standards and Recommended Practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

She said the courtesy visit was aimed at strengthening the Ministry’s commitment to service delivery through greater ownership and management support for Service Delivery Initiatives (SDI), improved implementation and monitoring of the Ministry’s Service Charter, and increased participation in SERVICOM programmes.

She further stated that the engagement was also designed to promote activities towards the Customer Service Week and establish stronger collaboration among the Ministry, its agencies and the Presidency.

Helen also commended the Ministry for its performance in the 2025 SERVICOM Service Delivery Scorecard, noting that the Deputy Director overseeing the Reform Coordination, Innovation and Service Improvement (RC, I & SI) Unit, Mrs. Francisca Adedeji, was recognised as the third-best performing officer, while the Ministry’s SERVICOM Unit emerged as the third-best performing Ministerial SERVICOM Unit.

She emphasised the importance of continuous staff training and capacity development as critical components of sustainable improvement in public service delivery.

She expressed confidence that effective implementation of the issues and recommendations discussed during the engagement would further reposition the Ministry and its agencies to operate more efficiently and optimally, while ensuring that customers and stakeholders receive prompt, satisfactory and quality services.

Earlier, the Director overseeing (RC, I& SI) Department, Mrs. Francisca Adedeji, welcomed the SERVICOM delegation and assured them of the Ministry’s readiness to strengthen collaboration and partnership with SERVICOM towards further improving service delivery.

In his closing remarks, Director of Human Resources Management, Mr. Ejike Osibe, assured the SERVICOM team that the Ministry remained committed to translating the deliberations and recommendations from the engagement into concrete actions that would enhance service delivery across the Ministry.
