LADY HELEN OBAREKI COMMENDS FIDELITY BANK ON NEW BRANCH OPENING IN EKET

The Coordinator of the office of the First Lady, Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, has congratulated the management of Fidelity Bank Plc on the opening of its new branch in Eket, describing the development as a significant milestone and an indication of the bank’s growing presence and success in the state and across Nigeria.

Lady Obareki stated this on Monday, September 1, 2026, during the official opening of the new Fidelity Bank branch in Eket, where she commended the financial institution for its achievements and impressive performance over the years.

Represented by the President of the Eket Senatorial District Women’s Forum, Dr. Idara Ephraim Akpan, the Coordinator applauded the bank for recording what she described as a stellar financial performance in the 2025 financial year, noting that its gross earnings recorded a significant increase of more than 45 per cent that year.

“I congratulate the management of Fidelity Bank for all your successes and great results you have recorded across Akwa Ibom State and across Nigeria. Fidelity Bank, in the year 2025, recorded a stellar financial result in that financial year 2025 which was more than a 45% increase in gross earning, amounting to trillions of Naira,” she noted.

The Coordinator also expressed appreciation to Fidelity Bank for its partnership with the office of the First Lady and the Patience Umo Eno Golden Initiative For All, GIFA, in initiatives targeted at improving the lives of vulnerable members of society, particularly women.

According to her, the bank’s commitment to supporting humanitarian causes has complemented the efforts of the Office of the First Lady in touching lives and providing assistance to people in need.

“Just a few months ago, this bank donated a lot of items to the Office of the First Lady,” she said, appreciating the management for its continued support and commitment to initiatives that promote the wellbeing of women and other members of the society.

Lady Obareki assured Fidelity Bank of the continued partnership and collaboration of the office of the First Lady, stressing that the bank remains one of the leading financial institutions in Nigeria.

Also speaking, the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, represented by the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Emem Bob, described the Inauguration as a welcome demonstration of the growing confidence of Akwa Ibom people in the banks capacity to leverage on the commercial potential of Eket and its surrounding communities.

The Governor, who buttressed the important role of the financial services sector in promoting investment, enterprise, development, job creation and inclusive economic growth, assuring that the Akwa Ibom State Government remains committed to creating an enabling environment for private sector investment and sustainable economic development in line with the ARISE Agenda.

Speaking earlier, the Executive Director, South Directorate, Fidelity Bank Plc, Mrs Pamela Shodipo, said the opening of the branch demonstrated the bank’s confidence in the economic potential of Eket and its people. She described Eket as strategically positioned within Akwa Ibom and the South-South region, with opportunities in the energy, agriculture, commerce and service sectors. Shodipo said the bank would support individuals, SMEs and corporate organisations through access to finance, financial expertise and digital banking solutions, while contributing to sustainable economic growth.

Goodwill messages and testimonials were received from Chief Assam Assam, SAN and the Chairman of Eket, Mr Akaninyene Tommey Ikott, Archbishop Josephine Eggah and others, at the ceremony which was attended by Government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, customers and other stakeholders.
