MBAMNGA CRISIS: COMMANDER, 6 BRIGADE NIGERIAN ARMY, ENGAGES STAKEHOLDERS, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO PEACE AND UNITY IN TARABA STATE

In line with ongoing efforts to address security challenges, safeguard lives and property, and promote peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities in Taraba State, the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA) / Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, alongside the Commissioner of Police, Taraba State, CP Edwin Ogbeghagha, and other security agencies, on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, conducted an operational visit to the Mbamnga community in Sardauna Local Government Area (LGA) of Taraba State.

The visit was part of ongoing efforts to promote peace, unity, and peaceful coexistence among members of the community. The engagement was aimed at strengthening dialogue with traditional leaders, community representatives, and other relevant stakeholders, while encouraging collective efforts to resolve grievances peacefully and prevent further escalation of tensions.

Speaking during the engagement, the Commander, 6 Brigade NA / OPWS, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, emphasised the importance of peace, mutual understanding, and unity in ensuring the safety and development of the community.

The meeting, which was held at the palace of His Royal Majesty, the Mbundua of Mbamnga, Mambilla Plateau, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Doro, provided an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss issues affecting the community. The Commander urged stakeholders to continue promoting dialogue, tolerance, and cooperation while working together to address issues that could threaten peaceful coexistence.

The Brigade Commander also reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to supporting peace and stability within its area of responsibility. He stressed that security is a shared responsibility and called on community leaders and residents to provide timely and credible information to the appropriate security authorities.

Also speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Sardauna LGA, Hon. Mohammad J. Umar, commended Brigadier General Akaliro for his unwavering commitment and dedication to peacebuilding, particularly his physical presence in the community despite the poor road conditions. He noted that the Commander’s commitment reflects the Nigerian Army’s genuine interest in community welfare and stability.

In his remarks, His Royal Majesty, the Mbundua of Mbamnga, Mambilla Plateau, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Doro, appreciated the security agencies for their commitment to peaceful coexistence and pledged to support initiatives aimed at restoring confidence, strengthening community relationships, and sustaining peace in Mbamnga and the surrounding communities.

The engagement underscores the commitment of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army to constructive dialogue and collaboration with stakeholders in fostering a secure and peaceful environment for all residents.
