NAF, NORINCO DEEPEN STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP ON AIR DEFENCE, RADAR COVERAGE AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation with China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO) in air defence, radar coverage and technology transfer. The CAS stated this on Thursday, 22 October 2026, while receiving NORINCO’s Senior Vice President, Mr Qiang Wenyu, and his delegation at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Abuja. Mr Wenyu highlighted the longstanding Nigeria–China relationship and outlined NORINCO’s capabilities in comprehensive radar coverage, equipment supply and technology transfer.
Air Marshal Aneke described the relationship with NORINCO as a valued partnership, commending the corporation’s support to the NAF and willingness to facilitate technology transfer. He emphasised the importance of indigenous capacity development and expressed confidence in NORINCO’s air defence solutions, citing the NAF’s familiarity with its systems and opportunities for personnel training. He noted that these considerations could enhance operational effectiveness, strengthen airspace surveillance and support the sustainable development of the NAF’s air defence capabilities.
