The Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) has graduated the second cohort of participants in its Young Achievers Club Coding, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summer Class, reinforcing its commitment to equipping young members of the Air Force family with practical skills for the future. Organised in partnership with TechSpace Innovators, the programme provided young learners aged 12 to 21 with hands-on exposure to coding, robotics and AI, including the use of micro:bit and CreateAI platforms to explore basic machine-learning concepts.

The young innovators subsequently applied their knowledge to develop capstone projects designed to address real-world challenges in their communities. Projects showcased at the closing ceremony included a Flood Protection System, Gesture Bot, Smart Irrigation System, Smart Solar Street Light, Automatic Stick for the Blind, Automatic Gate, Smart Dust Bin and a Gesture Recognition System for Persons with Disabilities. The projects demonstrated the participants’ creativity, technical understanding and ability to translate emerging technologies into practical solutions.

The President of NAFOWA, Mrs. Ngozi Aneke, who graced the closing ceremony, commended the participants for their impressive innovations and engaged them during the project presentations, encouraging them to continue developing their skills and creative potential. Certificates were subsequently presented to the graduating participants, marking the successful completion of the second cohort. The initiative also aligns with the Nigerian Air Force’s broader “Welfare for Warfare” focus, which recognises investment in the development and wellbeing of personnel and their families as an important enabler of operational effectiveness. Through such initiatives, NAFOWA continues to foster innovation, critical thinking and confident young problem-solvers capable of making meaningful contributions to society.
