NAOWA PRESIDENT COMMISSIONS CRÈCHE AND NURSERY SCHOOL AT DALET CANTONMENT IN KADUNA STATE

The President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Dr (Mrs) Saffiyah Hassan Shaibu, has officially commissioned the newly remodelled Dr Saffiyah Hassan Shaibu Crèche and Nursery School at Dalet Cantonment in Kaduna.

The commissioning ceremony, which took place on 24 September 2026, marks a major milestone in ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare, education, and quality of life for Nigerian Army families.
The transformation project was executed under the leadership of the Chairperson, NAOWA 1 Division Chapter, Dr (Mrs) Halima Bamanga Tafida Wase.

Speaking at the event, the NAOWA President described the remodelled school as a vital investment in the children, families, and long-term future of the association. She emphasized that the modern facility will provide a safe, nurturing, and conducive environment for early learning, play, and cognitive development, offering military parents greater peace of mind.

“The needs of our children, teachers, and parents are interconnected,” Dr Shaibu noted. “A safe learning environment for children, paired with conducive working conditions for teachers, ultimately builds confidence among parents and strengthens the wellbeing of the entire family unit.”

She further highlighted that the initiative aligns seamlessly with her overarching vision of a united and innovative NAOWA. This vision focuses on empowering military families through self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods, which includes creating dignified environments to raise the next generation.

Dr Shaibu expressed her profound appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, for his unwavering support of welfare programmes across the Nigerian Army. She also commended the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division Nigerian Army, for his encouragement and facilitation of community-focused projects within the barracks.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Chairperson of the NAOWA 1 Division Chapter, Dr (Mrs) Halima Bamanga Tafida Wase, described the commissioning as a historic and memorable milestone. She praised the NAOWA President’s visionary leadership and relentless commitment to children’s education.

Dr Tafida Wase remarked that the school’s structural overhaul goes far beyond physical renovations, serving instead as a foundational investment in the future of barracks children by cultivating an environment optimized for growth and learning. She added that the 1 Division Chapter was deeply honoured by the trust reposed in them to execute such an impactful project.

The high-profile ceremony drew a distinguished audience, including national NAOWA executives, senior military officers and their spouses, representatives from Army Headquarters, zonal coordinators, community leaders, and members of the press. The event concluded with the presentation of commemorative souvenirs and an official group photograph.
