NDLEA DISMANTLES DRUG CARTEL, ARRAIGNS TWO KINGPINS IN ENUGU COURT OVER METHAMPHETAMINE LAB
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, says it has dismantled a Nigerian-Mexican drug cartel operating a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory in Eziama community, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Two suspected kingpins have been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Enugu on five counts bordering on conspiracy, financing and management of a drug trafficking organisation, and unlawful possession of precursor chemicals.
NDLEA said the suspects allegedly operated the laboratory in collaboration with a Mexican cartel member who is currently at large. The agency said its investigation led to the discovery of a sophisticated laboratory
A search of the facility and a related residence recovered hundreds of litres of precursor chemicals and other controlled substances, as well as equipment
The court has fixed October 21, 2026, for trial.
