POLICE RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIM, RAID CRIMINAL HIDEOUT, ARREST TEN SUSPECTS, RECOVER ONE FIREARM, AND ILLICIT DRUGS

The Delta State Police Command has recorded successes in separate operations across Agbor, Abbi and Oghara, leading to another rescue of a kidnapped victim, raid of a suspected criminal hideout, arrest of ten suspects, and recovery of a locally made firearm and quantities of suspected illicit drugs.

1. KIDNAP VICTIM RESCUED IN ALISIME, AGBOR:

On 4th September 2026, at about 1800hrs, operatives of Agbor Division, acting on intelligence following an earlier report of the kidnapping of a 60-year-old man, mobilised to Alisime Village alongside forest guards and local security personnel. The operatives engaged the kidnappers and successfully rescued the victim unharmed. The suspects fled into the bush with suspected gunshot injuries. One mobile phone and an ATM card were recovered, while the area was cordoned off and a manhunt for the fleeing suspects is ongoing.

2. RAID OF CRIMINAL HIDEOUT, ARREST OF TEN SUSPECTS, AND RECOVERY OF ILLICIT DRUGS:

On 4th September 2026, at about 2130hrs, operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit (CACU), Ozoro, acting on credible intelligence on a suspect wanted in connection with an arson case at Owhelogbo Community in August, raided a brothel in Abbi, where the suspect was reportedly hiding. During the operation, ten suspects, comprising seven females and three males, were arrested, while Tramadol, Swinol, Canadian Loud and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered during the raid. Profiling of the suspects is ongoing, and those found culpable will be prosecuted.

3. RECOVERY OF ONE LOCALLY MADE CUT-TO-SIZE GUN:

On 4th September 2026, at about 1930hrs, operatives of Oghara Division, alongside the civilian anti-cult group, responded to a report of a scuffle involving about eight persons along Ibori Road, Oghara. On sighting the patrol team, the suspects fled, during which one of them, identified by the alias “Highest,” discarded a locally made cut-to-size gun. The firearm was recovered, while efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, psc, mnips, commended the operatives and other security personnel involved in the operations and directed that efforts be intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects. The CP assured residents that the command will continue to strengthen intelligence-led operations, raid identified criminal hideouts and sustain patrols across the State. He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly provide the Police with credible information that could aid the prevention and detection of crime.
