REINFORCEMENTS ARRIVE IN MANGU! 178 TROOPS DEPLOYED TO STRENGTHEN SECURITY!

This is how we respond. This is how we protect.

The Nigerian Army has deployed the first batch of personnel from 236 Tank Battalion to Headquarters Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), in Mangu LGA, Plateau State.

The deployment took place at about 4:40 p.m. on September 25, 2026, as part of the ongoing restructuring of the Nigerian Army.

First batch: 178 troops. Two groups of 89. Led by Lt. Col. H.O. Obire.

They were received by the Commander, Sector 8 OPEP, upon arrival. And they didn’t waste time they immediately commenced familiarisation with the Area of Responsibility and the sector’s operational mandate.

Because Mangu and adjoining communities have seen attacks, k!11!ngs, livestock destruction, and reprisal incidents throughout September. Our people are hurting. Our communities are under threat.

This deployment is a message: we are not abandoning you.

The additional personnel will strengthen ongoing operations, improve troops’ presence in vulnerable areas, and enhance the sector’s capacity to respond to emerging threats. They will work with other security and response elements to protect civilians, prevent further attacks, and maintain security across the sector’s AOR.

To the people of Mangu help has arrived. Stay strong. Stay hopeful.
To the troops welcome to the frontline. Stay sharp. Stay vigilant.
To the criminals your days are numbered. Mangu will not fall.
