UPDATE: ENUGU POLICE ARRAIGN 30-YEAR-OLD MAN ON SEVEN-COUNT CHARGE OF UNLAWFUL CARNAL KNOWLEDGE, CYBERCRIMES AND ARMED ROBBERY; COURT ORDERS REMAND

Further to the earlier press release on the arrest of Ugbor Chika Paul (male, 30), the Enugu State Police Command wishes to inform the public that the suspect has been arraigned before the Enugu Magistrate Court. He is facing a seven-count charge bordering on unlawful carnal knowledge, cybercrime-related offences, including the non-consensual distribution of intimate images and sextortion, as well as armed robbery involving three identified female victims.

Following his arraignment on 3rd November 2026, the court ordered his remand in Correctional Custody, declined his bail application and directed that the case file be forwarded to the Office of the Attorney-General through the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for review and legal advice. The matter was subsequently adjourned to 17th November 2026.

The charges arose from investigations which revealed an alleged pattern of criminal conduct involving the victims. Two of the female victims were allegedly sexually assaulted and robbed of money, while the suspect also allegedly engaged in cyber-related offences against them, including taking and threatening to distribute their intimate images to extort money. A third female victim was allegedly robbed of money by the suspect.

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, mspsp, smicm, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting residents, particularly women, from sexual violence, robbery and cyber-enabled crimes. He urged members of the public, especially women and business operators, to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities or incidents to the Police.
