ECOWAS COMMISSION PRESIDENT LAUNCHES STAFF TRANSPORTATION INITIATIVE TO IMPROVE STAFF WELFARE AND PRODUCTIVITY

The President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. General Birame Diop, officially launched a dedicated staff transportation initiative aimed at improving employee welfare, facilitating daily commuting and enhancing institutional productivity. The programme, launched in the presence of the Vice-President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Anthony Oluwatosin Ogunjimi, begins operations with an initial fleet comprising one 25-seat staff bus and two 18-seat buses, providing structured transportation between designated pick-up points and the ECOWAS Commission Headquarters in Abuja.

The initiative reflects the Commission leadership’s commitment to translating staff concerns into practical and measurable solutions that improve both working conditions and organizational effectiveness.

Speaking during the launch, President Diop underscored that responsive leadership requires listening to staff needs and delivering tangible results. He noted that the transportation scheme is designed to ease the financial and logistical burden of daily commuting, strengthen punctuality, improve safety and contribute to greater efficiency across the institution. Calling on beneficiaries to make responsible use of the service and adhere to established schedules and routes, he reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to progressively expanding the programme to reach more staff members in the future.
