The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ado-Ekiti Operations Office, in collaboration with the Ondo State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has distributed relief materials to persons affected by the recent flood disaster in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The intervention, carried out on Monday, 31st August 2026, was aimed at alleviating the hardship suffered by affected households and providing immediate humanitarian support following the disaster.

Representing the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, the Head of Operations, Mr. Kazeem Olanrewaju, sympathised with the affected residents and said the approved relief materials were provided to cushion the impact of the disaster.

He also stressed the role of human activities in worsening disaster risks and urged residents to desist from practices capable of triggering or aggravating disasters.

He encouraged them to continue to observe safety measures and heed relevant early warnings. The Executive Secretary of Ondo SEMA, Mr. Richard Aina, appreciated the NEMA Director-General for the intervention and urged residents to adhere to safety precautions highlighted during the Agency’s earlier sensitisation activities in the state.

The relief items distributed included rice, beans, garri, sachet tomatoes, salt, seasoning cubes, vegetable oil, spaghetti, foam mattresses and blankets.

The intervention underscores the continued collaboration between NEMA and state emergency management authorities in providing timely assistance to communities affected by disasters.
