NEMA Distributes Relief to Flood Victims in Uyo

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), through its Uyo Operations Office, has distributed relief materials to persons affected by flooding in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The direct distribution exercise, held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, was flagged off on behalf of the Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, by the Principal Relief and Rehabilitation Officer, Mr. Victor Akpakpan.

Mr. Akpakpan conveyed NEMA’s sympathy to the affected persons and said the intervention was part of the Federal Government’s efforts to alleviate the difficulties caused by the flood disaster and provide assistance to affected households and communities.

He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the relief materials provided.

The Vice Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Hon. Christiana Bassey Essien (JP), alongside community leaders, appreciated the Federal Government and NEMA for the intervention. They noted that the relief materials would provide meaningful assistance to households affected by the flooding.

The exercise was witnessed by representatives of the Akwa Ibom State Emergency Management Agency (AKSEMA), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), community leaders and other stakeholders.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chief Obot Etim and Madam Ekaette Etuk thanked the Federal Government and NEMA for the assistance, saying the relief materials would help ease the impact of the flood disaster on affected households and their livelihoods.
