GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATES PAY SOLIDARITY VISIT TO PARTY LEADERSHIP
The Forum of Gubernatorial Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party visited the Interim National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party to show solidarity following the judgment of the Court of Appeal.
The Chairman of the Forum, Hon. Sunday Biggs, said: “This visit is to interact with the INWC, to show solidarity, and to encourage them to undertake a strategic plan aimed at sensitising and unifying the Party, especially at the grassroots level.
Furthermore, it is to ensure that the appeal to the Supreme Court is pursued with urgency, competence and every necessary legal preparation. We have come here to reaffirm one important message: we believe in the PDP, we stand with the Party, and we are committed to its survival and success.”
In his response, the National Chairman of the Interim National Working Committee, Kabiru Turaki, SAN, welcomed the candidates and thanked them for their solidarity with the cause of the Party and democracy. He informed them that the Party’s lawyers have been briefed to file an appeal at the Supreme Court, which he is hopeful will allow substantial justice to be done. He further assured them that the Party leadership under his watch will continue to fight to rescue the Party from the grip of those seeking to destroy it. He stressed that the Party must play the role of a credible opposition, which is to oppose the governing party and provide an alternative leadership for the people. He encouraged the candidates to go back home and sensitise their members on the situation in the Party.
