ENUGU POLICE ARREST 30-YEAR-OLD MAN FOR ALLEGED SERIAL RAPE, ROBBERY AND SEXTORTION, RECOVER PHONE CONTAINING VICTIMS’ NUDE IMAGES AND VIDEOS

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested Ugbor Chika Paul (male, 30) for alleged serial rape, robbery and sextortion (cyberstalling) of female victims. Preliminary investigations indicate that he lured female Point-of-Sale (POS) operators to secluded locations under the pretext of conducting transactions, where he allegedly robbed and sexually assaulted them. He also allegedly used Facebook, posing as Franklin Umeh, to lure another victim. A phone recovered from him reportedly contains nude images and video clips of identified and unidentified victims.

The first victim, a 20-year-old POS operator at Akwata Market, Enugu, whose identity is withheld, was allegedly lured to a bush behind St. Peter’s Church, Coal Camp, at about 11:00 a.m. on 21 May 2026, where the suspect allegedly robbed and raped her, taking ₦600,000. The second victim, a 30-year-old POS operator at the same market, was allegedly lured to the same location at about 5:00 p.m. on 11 August 2026 and robbed of ₦120,00p, after unsuccessful attempts to also rape her.

The third victim, aged 21, was allegedly lured through Facebook by the suspect, posing as Franklin Umeh, to Old Park, Enugu, at about 11:30 a.m. on 4 October 2026, before being taken to a bush around Udi Siding. He allegedly raped and sexually assaulted her, recorded her nude, and robbed her of ₦100,000 and her phone. He subsequently threatened to circulate the video unless she paid ₦200,000 and allegedly used her phone to contact some of her WhatsApp contacts.

Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will be arraigned in court upon conclusion. Other victims are urged to come forward and assist the investigation. Young women who have experienced cyberstalking or sextortion are also encouraged to report such incidents to the Police for appropriate action.

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, mspsp, smicm, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting residents from sexual violence, robbery and other crimes. He urged the public, particularly women and business operators, to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the Police.
