403 AMPHIBIOUS BRIGADE STRENGTHENS CIVIL-MILITARY TIES WITH HUMANITARIAN DONATIONS IN BAGA

In a renewed demonstration of its commitment to humanitarian assistance and people-centred military engagement, the Commander, 403 Amphibious Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Anthony Eteka Ozemhoya, has donated a mobility tricycle to miss Maryam Audu, a physically challenged resident of Baga community, and a bicycle to Mr Mustapha Gatanmaraya, another resident of the community. The gesture underscores the Brigade’s resolve to complement its security operations with practical interventions that promote inclusion, improve mobility and address the everyday needs of the civilian population.

The donations, made on Monday, 26 October 2026, form part of the Brigade’s ongoing Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities aimed at strengthening public confidence, fostering mutual trust and deepening cooperation between the Nigerian Army and communities within its area of responsibility.

The mobility tricycle donated to Maryam Audu is expected to ease her movement, enhance her independence and enable her to carry out daily activities with greater convenience. Similarly, the bicycle presented to Mr Mustapha Gatanmaraya is intended to improve his mobility and support his day-to-day engagements.

The gesture reflects the Brigade’s commitment to people-oriented military engagement and its recognition of the importance of addressing the practical needs of civilians, particularly vulnerable members of the community. Such humanitarian interventions help build mutual trust, promote understanding and strengthen cooperation between the Nigerian Army and the civilian population.

The initiative is also in line with the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Nigerian Army medal, particularly the emphasis on purposeful leadership, operational effectiveness and constructive engagement with the civilian population.

The Brigade reiterates that effective civil-military relations remain an important component of its operational approach. By complementing its security responsibilities with humanitarian outreach and community-focused initiatives, 403 Amphibious Brigade seeks to promote public confidence, foster inclusiveness and encourage active collaboration with local communities.

The donations to the two residents of Baga demonstrate that meaningful civil-military cooperation extends beyond security operations to include practical interventions that improve livelihoods and respond to the everyday needs of the people.

The 403 Amphibious Brigade remains committed to strengthening civil-military relations and fostering a cooperative environment in which the military and civilian population can work together towards sustainable peace, security and community development.
