CAS SHARES LUNCH WITH PERSONNEL, DEEPENS LEADERSHIP-PERSONNEL BONDS
On Friday, 2 October 2026, the atmosphere during the lunchtime break at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Abuja, shifted from the usual formalities of command to something simpler and more personal. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, joined officers, airmen and airwomen for lunch, sitting among personnel, sharing a meal, exchanging pleasantries and engaging in relaxed conversations.
The lunch is part of a daily welfare initiative introduced by the CAS, making lunch available to NAF personnel at Headquarters and encouraging them to step away from their offices and demanding work schedules during the lunch break. Beyond providing nourishment, the initiative creates a common space where personnel meet, interact and build camaraderie, while senior leaders can connect with them informally. The brief pause from the intensity of the day also provides an opportunity to refresh, reconnect and return to duty with renewed focus and energy, supporting the productivity required to sustain the Service’s demanding operational commitments.
The engagement reflects the NAF’s continued emphasis on personnel welfare and accessible leadership, recognising that a strong and mission-ready Force is built not only through training and operations, but also through the strength of relationships within its ranks. By creating spaces for meaningful interaction beyond the formalities of command, the NAF continues to foster a culture where its people feel valued, connected and united in the shared responsibility of protecting Nigeria and its people.
