ECOWAS REAFFIRMS ITS COMMITMENT TO THE INCLUSION OF YOUTH IN DEMOCRATIC SYSTEMS IN WEST AFRICA

The ECOWAS Commission, through its Directorate of Political Affairs, is co-organizing, with « LEGIS360 » an organization of young people that promotes the defense of rights, development, and public awareness, the first edition of the West African Youth Conference on Democracy, from September 8 to 10, 2026, in Dakar, on the theme: « From Activism to Access to Power: Reassessing Youth Political Inclusion in West Africa and Advancing a Regional Agenda for Democratic Governance ».
This conference aims to provide a high-level regional platform to assess progress made, examine persistent obstacles, and promote evidence-based political and institutional reforms, with a view to strengthening meaningful youth inclusion in democratic governance and political decision-making in ECOWAS member states.
