EKITI CP WARNS OFFICERS AGAINST MISCONDUCT, EXTORTION, HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES, ELECTORAL PARTISANSHIP;
As CP Falade reinforces IGP’s directives on professionalism, accountability and operational discipline
The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, has reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for misconduct, extortion, abuse of authority, violation of fundamental human rights and other unprofessional practices capable of undermining public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
The CP gave this charge during a strategic meeting with officers of the Command at the Officers’ Mess Auditorium, Okesha, Ado-Ekiti, where he conveyed and reinforced the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP OLATUNJI RILWAN DISU, psc(+), NPM, on professionalism, accountability, discipline and respect for the rule of law.
Addressing the officers, CP Falade emphasised that all criminal investigations must be thorough, intelligence-led and conducted in strict compliance with due process and established procedures. He warned against extortion, unlawful detention, intimidation and abuse of police powers, stressing that such misconduct would attract appropriate disciplinary measures.
He further charged supervisory officers, Heads of Departments and Divisional Police Officers to take responsibility for the conduct of personnel under their command. He also directed strict adherence to the principle of Proportionality, Legality, Accountability and Necessity in all police operations.
Addressing the forthcoming general elections, CP Falade warned officers against political partisanship, undue political influence or any act capable of compromising the neutrality and impartiality of the Police before, during and after the elections. He charged personnel to remain professional, impartial and firm in the discharge of their duties, ensuring adequate security for all political parties, candidates and members of the public without fear or favour.
The Commissioner urged officers to sustain operational vigilance, strengthen intelligence gathering and deepen collaboration with other security agencies to ensure the continued protection of lives and property across Ekiti State.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to the IGP’s policing vision and assured residents that the Command would continue to uphold the rule of law, protect fundamental human rights and hold accountable any personnel found wanting in the discharge of their duties.
