ONDO POLICE COMMAND STRENGTHEN GRASSROOT SECURITY AS CP FELIX OHAGWU COMMISSIONS UPGRADED ALADE- ATOSIN IDANRE DIVISIONAL POLICE HEADQUARTERS .
… _Charges officers on professionalism, accountability and community partnership_
The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, psc, mnips, mspsp, has officially commissioned the newly upgraded Alade-Idanre Divisional Police Headquarters, which used to be an outpost in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to strengthening grassroots policing, improving security response and bringing police services closer to the people.
The commissioning ceremony, held on 2nd November, 2026, marked a significant milestone in the security architecture of Alade-Idanre and neighbouring communities, providing a more accessible operational base for police personnel to prevent crime, respond to incidents and protect lives and property.
Speaking at the event, CP Felix Ohagwu described the new facility as a practical investment in public safety, noting that a police station represents more than a physical structure but a place where members of the public can seek assistance, report concerns and partner with the police in maintaining peace and security.
He explained that the establishment of the divisional headquarters would strengthen the Command’s operational capacity and facilitate closer engagement with residents. However, he stressed that infrastructure alone could not guarantee security without the trust, cooperation and support of the host community.
The CP charged officers assigned to the new division to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and compassion, while treating members of the public with dignity, responding promptly to complaints and enforcing the law without fear or favour.
Earlier, the Aladeokun of Alade-Idanre, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ayodele Adesoga Adegbogun Akinnadeju Erijogunola Akinnadeju I, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Police for facilitating the approval and elevation of the outpost to divisional headquarters status. He also acknowledged the contributions of the traditional institutions and other community stakeholders whose support and commitment helped actualise the project.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Idanre Local Government, Hon. (Barr.) Smart Adeuyi Omotadowa, commended CP Felix Ohagwu for his commitment towards making the project a reality. He equally appreciated the people of Alade and the wider Idanre community for their cooperation and collective contributions, describing the achievement as evidence of the importance of collaboration between government, security agencies and the people.
The Regent of Idanre, High Chief Akinloye Akinboni, also appreciated the Commissioner of Police and his management team for making the project possible. He particularly commended the CP for his accessibility and consistent willingness to support the community whenever the need arises.
The Pioneer Divisional Police Officer of Alade Division, CSP Faleye Funke also described the commissioning as a landmark development that would improve police visibility, intelligence gathering, accessibility to security services and prompt response to emergencies.
She assured the Commissioner of Police and residents that the officers and men of the division would justify the confidence reposed in them through professionalism, discipline, accountability and respect for human rights. She further called on residents to sustain their cooperation with the police by providing timely and credible information.
The climax of the event was the unveiling of the commemorative plaque and the cutting of the ribbon by the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, accompanied by members of the Command’s management team, traditional rulers and other community stakeholders, formally marking the commissioning of the newly upgraded divisional headquarters. The commissioning underscores the Ondo State Police Command’s commitment to strengthening police infrastructure and expanding community-based security operations across the state.
