GOV AIYEDATIWA ROLLS OUT N400M BURSARY, SCHOLARSHIP FOR 13,360 ONDO STUDENTS

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has flagged off the 2026 bursary, scholarship and financial assistance programme for 13,360 students of Ondo State origin, with ₦400 million approved for the scheme.

The beneficiaries include 11,907 bursary recipients, 614 scholarship students, 239 Law School students, 500 medical students on clinical training and 100 physically challenged students.

Governor Aiyedatiwa said the intervention reflects his administration’s commitment to education and human capital development under the “OUR EASE” agenda, stressing that financial hardship should not prevent deserving students from pursuing their education.

Beyond the bursary scheme, the governor highlighted other education initiatives, including the Digital Literacy Programme, which will provide tablets to students in 50 public schools, rehabilitation and construction of 500 basic schools, and efforts to establish UNASTO in Owo, a College of Nursing in Igbokoda and a College of Education in Aboto.

The state also disclosed that ₦633.918 million had been released for 2026 WASSCE registration fees for students in public secondary schools, while the government has approved implementation of the new salary structure for workers in state tertiary institutions.

The government is additionally considering a digital registry and scholarship management platform to identify and manage Ondo State students studying across Nigeria, improve transparency and planning, reduce fraud and help attract more private-sector educational support.

The governor also approved a scholarship and bursary support for the child of late student leader Comrade Mary Ogunga, who died before completing her final Bar examination.

Governor Aiyedatiwa urged beneficiaries to reciprocate the investment by pursuing excellence, maintaining discipline and integrity, and becoming worthy ambassadors of Ondo State.
