NAF DEEPENS JOINT FORCE READINESS, TRAINS ARMY OFFICERS IN AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL AND SURVEILLANCE

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) continues to strengthen joint force readiness through the training of personnel across the Armed Forces of Nigeria. Demonstrating growing inter-Service collaboration, the NAF Air Traffic Services Training Centre (ATSTC), Kaduna, graduated 10 officers, 8 Nigerian Air Force and 2 Nigerian Army officers, from the Air Traffic Control and Surveillance Radar Course 1/2026, following intensive training in contemporary air traffic management, surveillance radar operations and aviation safety.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony on 18 September 2026, the Commandant of the Centre, Air Vice Marshal Nosiru Babatunde Folaji, noted that the training reflects the NAF’s commitment to developing highly skilled professionals capable of supporting increasingly complex military operations. He highlighted that the participation of Nigerian Army officers not only enhances interoperability and coordination, but also promotes greater understanding among the Services of the complexities of the operating environment, thereby strengthening mutual appreciation of capabilities, roles and operational requirements in joint missions.

The initiative aligns with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, which prioritises professionalism, operational excellence and human capacity development. By sharing its aviation training expertise with sister Services, the NAF continues to strengthen interoperability and build a more cohesive and capable joint force prepared to safeguard Nigeria’s airspace and national security interests.
