NASPRI REMAINS CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR TRAINING PUBLIC RELATIONS PROFESSIONALS – GENERAL ATTAHIRU

The Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) has been commended for its sustained efforts in producing highly trained, disciplined and ethically grounded Public Relations professionals for the Armed Forces. The commendation was made by the Commander, Ordnance Composite Depot, Giri, Abuja, Brig Gen JN Attahiru, during the graduation ceremony of the Third Quarter 2026 Courses held at the Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja Auditorium, Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri. Brig Gen Attahiru who doubles as the Special Guest of Honour described the Third Quarter Courses as strategic programmes designed to strengthen capacity in information management, perception shaping and strategic communication, particularly as the information environment has become an increasingly important domain of modern operations.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Acting Commandant NASPRI, Lt Col Shuaib Umar, stated that the school has remained at the forefront of training competent personnel in Public Relations, communication and media operations for the Nigerian Army and other services. He noted that the Warrant Officers Public Relations Management Course equipped participants with skills in communication management, stakeholder engagement and image building, while the A2 Video Operations and X3 Graphics Design and Printing Courses developed students’ technical and creative abilities in producing professional visual and communication materials. He added that these programmes support the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy of developing a professional, adaptable, combat-ready and resilient Nigerian Army.

Lt Col Umar expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for his continued support, which he said has contributed to positioning NASPRI as a leading military Public Relations institution in Sub-Saharan Africa. He also acknowledged the Chief of Naval Staff for his continuous interest in training Nigerian Navy personnel in NASPRI. He also appreciates the Commander TRADOC and Chief of Training (Army) for their support and guidance. The Commandant also commended the Acting Director Army Public Relations for constant support and encouragement to NASPRI.

Earlier, the Chief Instructor, Maj Nureni Alimi, presented the course appraisal, noting that students underwent theoretical and practical assessments, physical training, games and Exercise Commentary, and demonstrated commendable discipline, determination and commitment to Nigerian Army core values.

The ceremony was attended by senior military officers, representative of Director of Information Nigerian Navy, academics from the University of Abuja and other distinguished guests. The event featured the presentation of certificates to graduads, awards to outstanding participants and souvenirs to guests. The ceremony climaxed with group photographs at the NASPRI photo stand, marking the successful completion of the Third Quarter 2026 courses.
