NIGERIA CONDOLES WITH TANZANIA OVER THE PASSING OF
PRESIDENT SAMIA SULUHU HASSAN’S HUSBAND
The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca
Odumegwu-Ojukwu, on behalf of the Federal Government and people
of Nigeria, extends heartfelt condolences to the Government and people
of the United Republic of Tanzania, particularly Her Excellency
President Samia Suluhu Hassan, following the passing of her husband,
Mr. Hafidh Ameir Hassan, on Monday, 07 September 2026.
The Honourable Minister conveys Nigeria’s deepest sympathies to
President Samia Suluhu Hassan and the bereaved family during this
period of profound grief. She also expresses the solidarity of the
Government and people of Nigeria with the Government and people of
Tanzania as they mourn this painful loss of Tanzania’s First Gentleman.
Nigeria recognises the contributions of late Mr. Hassan to his country,
and joins the people of Tanzania in mourning his passing.
The Federal Government of Nigeria prays for the peaceful repose of Mr.
Hassan’s soul, and for strength and comfort for President Hassan, her
family and the people of the United Republic of Tanzania at this moment
of grief.
