RE: COMPLIANCE WITH HONOURABLE MINISTER’S DIRECTIVE ON
REOPENING OF ALL FEDERAL UNITY COLLEGES (FUCs) ON
MONDAY, 14™ SEPTEMBER, 2026 FOR 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION

I am directed by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji
Alausa CON to refer to the Communiqué dated 10″ September, 2026 issued by the
Joint Workers Committee (JWC) of the Federal Ministry of Education Headquarters,
purporting to suspend resumption of all FUCs until further notice.

2. The Honourable Minister has rejected the Communiqué in its entirety and has
directed as follows:

i. The Communiqué is illegal, unauthorized and should be disregarded.
ii. | All FUCs MUST reopen for First Term, 2026/2027 Academic Session
on Monday, 14″ September, 2026 as originally scheduled.

3. Security agencies have been duly notified. The Honourable Minister has
written to the Director General, Department of State Services (DSS) and the
Inspector General of Police (IGP) to ensure protection of lives and unhindered access
to all FUCs. You are therefore directed to take immediate action as follows:

i. Ensure that your College gates, hostels, classrooms and administrative
blocks are opened by Sunday, 13″ September, 2026 to receive returning
students;

ii. Ensure full academic activities commence on Monday, 14″ September,
2026;

iii, Ensure all staff (academic and non-academic) are at their duty posts and
attendance is taken;

iv. Contact immediately, the Commissioner of Police and State Director of
DSS in your State/FCT to confirm security deployment to your College
and to provide them with necessary cooperation;

v. Ensure that all boarding facilities, water, electricity, clinic and dining
arrangements are fully functional before resumption;

vi. Do not allow any person or group to lock up, picket or prevent staff,
students and parents from accessing the College. Report any threat
immediately to this Department and to the nearest security agency;

vii. Submit daily Situation Report on resumption from 14% — 19%
September, 2026 to the Department via email: fmefucs@yahoo.com

4. Please treat as VERY URGENT and ensure strict compliance. Failure to
comply will attract appropriate disciplinary action.
