OPERATION HADIN KAI INTENSIFIES OFFENSIVE AGAINST ISWAP, BOKOHARAM, NEUTRALISES 152 TERRORISTS IN AUGUST

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have intensified pressure on Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram terrorists across the North-East, neutralising 152 terrorists, arresting 142 suspects and forcing 219 others to surrender in August 2026.

The latest operational figures highlight the growing impact of sustained ground offensives, air operations and intelligence-led missions against terrorist networks across the theatre.

During the month, troops conducted 10 air interdictions and neutralised nine improvised explosive devices (IEDs), disrupting planned attacks and securing key routes and movement corridors used by troops and civilians.

The operations also resulted in the recovery of 58 weapons and explosive items, including AK-47 and AK-49 rifles, locally fabricated firearms, a hand grenade and an RPG bomb, as well as 1,184 rounds of ammunition.

Other recoveries included 16 mobility assets, 44 mobile phones, a Sony video camcorder and N1,794,910 in cash, providing additional leads for ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist logistics and support networks.

The surrender of 219 terrorists further represents a significant setback for the insurgents, depriving their ranks of manpower while providing security agencies with valuable intelligence on their operations, movements, hideouts and logistics chains.

The August gains reflect OPHK’s sustained multi-dimensional approach, combining ground offensives, air interdictions, intelligence gathering and community-supported operations to degrade terrorist capabilities and restrict their freedom of movement.

The neutralisation of IEDs has also enhanced the safety of troops, farmers, commuters and residents who depend on roads and rural routes across the affected areas.

The military’s continued offensive is aimed at creating conditions for the safe return of displaced persons, reopening major access routes, restoring economic activities and enabling communities affected by insurgency to return to normal life.

With the campaign continuing, the August results demonstrate the military’s determination to dismantle terrorist networks, degrade their fighting capability and compel more insurgents to abandon the battlefield.

The ultimate objective remains to deny ISWAP and Boko Haram the ability to threaten communities and create a more secure environment for the restoration of peace and sustainable development across the North-East.
