PRESS RELEASE EDO POLICE COMMAND URGES MOTORISTS TO REMAIN PATIENT AND LAW-ABIDING FOLLOWING TRAFFIC GRIDLOCK ON ISIHOR–USELU EXPRESSWAY

The Edo State Police Command has called on motorists and other road users to remain patient, disciplined and law-abiding following the traffic gridlock experienced along the Isihor–Uselu Expressway on Thursday, 13th August, 2026.

The Command observed that a significant part of the gridlock was caused by motorists driving against traffic (one-way), thereby obstructing the free flow of vehicles and worsening the situation for other road users.

The Command wishes to reassure members of the public that its personnel will continue to be available to assist in managing traffic situations and restoring free movement, as demonstrated by officers who worked through the night to ease the congestion along the affected route. However, motorists are urged to cooperate with law enforcement personnel, exercise patience and strictly obey traffic regulations.

Road users are particularly warned against driving against traffic, making illegal turns, indiscriminate parking or engaging in any other conduct capable of obstructing traffic flow. The Command, in synergy with sister security and traffic management agencies, will intensify enforcement along the Isihor–Uselu Expressway and other major routes across the State. Motorists found violating traffic laws will be arrested and made to face the consequences in accordance with the law.

The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, mnips, reiterates that maintaining a safe and orderly traffic environment is a collective responsibility. While the Command remains committed to assisting motorists and ensuring the free flow of traffic, motorists must equally play their part by being patient, responsible and law-abiding.

The Command appreciates the cooperation and understanding of members of the public and urges all road users to drive responsibly and avoid actions that may endanger lives or cause avoidable traffic congestion.
