Actors Guild of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter Pays Courtesy Visit to Citizen Voice 97.1 FM as Part of International Actors Day Activities

LAGOS, NIGERIA – Monday, 24th August, 2026
The Executive Committee (EXCO) of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, led by the Chairman, *Hon. Funmilayo Ikubuwaye Mary Edward, Mr oyika Emmanuel Director of Guild Services, Prince Tunde Shado Financial Secretary on Monday paid a courtesy visit and media tour to *Citizen Voice 97.1 FM* in Lagos.

The visit was part of the guild’s lineup of activities to commemorate *International Actors Day*, aimed at deepening collaboration between the acting community and the media while projecting the contributions of Nigerian actors to national culture and development.

The delegation was received by the management and on-air team of Citizen Voice 97.1 FM led by Segun Adeniyi and Godwin Asuquo.

Discussions centered on partnership opportunities for content development, talent showcase, advocacy for better welfare of actors, and amplifying the guild’s initiatives around International Actors Day.

Speaking during the visit, *Hon. Funmilayo Ikubuwaye Mary Edward* commended Citizen Voice 97.1 FM for its commitment to giving voice to the people and for providing a platform for creative professionals.
> “As actors, we are storytellers and nation builders. This courtesy visit is to strengthen our relationship with the media and to use platforms like Citizen Voice 97.1 FM to engage the public, mentor upcoming talents, and celebrate the art of acting,” she said.

Also speaking, the *Director of Communications, Amb. Cornelius Udofia*, noted that the media tour is a strategic component of the International Actors Day activities.
> “The media remains a critical partner in projecting the image of the Nigerian actor. Through this tour, we are taking our message directly to the people — that acting is a profession, a business, and a tool for social impact. We appreciate Citizen Voice 97.1 FM for welcoming us,” Amb. Udofia stated.

Highlights of the visit included a live studio session where EXCO members spoke on the significance of International Actors Day, challenges facing the industry, and the guild’s plans for capacity building and members’ welfare in Lagos State.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, unity, and advocacy for its members, while calling on media houses to continue partnering with the guild to promote positive storytelling and Nigerian content.
