Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped victim, recovered 18 rustled cattle and arrested four suspected drug peddlers during separate operations in Kebbi State.
On 18 October 2026, troops of Sector 2, in conjunction with local vigilantes, swiftly responded to a distress call over the activities of terrorists who had invaded Rambo Village in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area with the intention of kidnapping residents and rustling cattle.
Acting on the information, the troops immediately mobilised to the community, made contact with the terrorists and engaged in a firefight. The decisive intervention by the troops resulted in the successful rescue of a 40-year-old resident, Suleiman Maiyaki Ikara, and the recovery of 18 rustled cattle. The rescued victim and recovered livestock were subsequently handed over to the District Head of Rambo Village for further action.
Similarly, on the same day, troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, conducted coordinated raids on suspected drug trafficking locations in Dakin Kowa, Karaye and Gubba communities of Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The joint operation led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of substances suspected to be illicit drugs. The suspects and recovered substances are currently in the custody of the NDLEA Command in Maiyama for further investigation and necessary action.
The Joint Task Force remains resolute in sustaining offensive operations against terrorists and other criminal elements across the Joint Operations Area. The Theatre Command also appreciates the continued support and cooperation of local communities and urges members of the public to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to enhance ongoing operations.
