IMO POLICE COMMAND CLARIFIES VIRAL OKIGWE ASSAULT VIDEO, ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTS
The Imo State Police Command has taken note of a video currently circulating on social media depicting the assault of a young woman and her brother at Okigwe, who were reportedly en route to Abia State University.
The Command wishes to clarify that the armed men seen in the video are not police officers, but personnel of the Imo State Vigilante Organization.
The individuals, identified as Ejiogu Nchekwube and Caleb Onyebuchi, have been arrested and are currently detained at the Okigwe Divisional Police Headquarters, while investigation into the incident continues.
The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, psc(+), mnips, reaffirms the Commandβs commitment to professionalism, accountability, and respect for the rights of members of the public. He assures that anyone found culpable will face appropriate action in accordance with the law.
The Command urges the public to remain calm and refrain from circulating unverified information, while relying on official channels for verified updates.
