The Niger State Police Command says it has arrested 28 suspects over various criminal activities across the state and recovered some items associated with the crimes.

The Niger State Police Command says it has arrested 28 suspects over various criminal activities across the state and recovered some items associated with the crimes.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Command SP Wasiu Abiodun who disclosed this in a crime briefings stated that four of the suspects were arrested over the alleged killing of the Village Head of Zhilu in Munya Local Government Area, Bawa Barde. Barde was attacked with machetes at his residence and later died at a medical facility from injuries sustained.

According to the police, preliminary investigation linked the suspects to a dispute involving farmland and a grazing route.

In Katcha Local Government Area, three suspects were arrested over alleged cattle theft, with the stolen cow recovered along the Bida-Minna Road.

Police also arrested nine suspected miscreants in Kpakungu and Marikichi areas of Minna for alleged thuggery, public disturbance and possession of dangerous weapons.

Other recoveries include a locally-made pistol found at a mining site in Dogon-Ruwa, Bosso Local Government Area, and a stolen Bajaj motorcycle recovered at Diko Junction.

Two suspected were arrested during a midnight raid in Chanchaga, while a 20-year-old suspect was also arrested in Maitumbi for alleged armed robbery and housebreaking.
