SUSTAIN OPERATIONAL TRAJECTORY, DENY CRIMINAL ELEMENTS FREEDOM OF ACTION – GOC 2 DIVISION TO TROOPS

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, has charged troops of 32 Artillery Brigade to sustain their operational trajectory in denying criminal elements freedom of action within their Area of Responsibility (AOR). He made the call while addressing troops of the Brigade during his maiden operational visit to Owena Cantonment, Akure, Ondo State, on 4 September 2026.

The GOC further stressed that he has been following the track of security challenges within the Brigade AOR. The challenges, he said, were similar to those of other formations. He informed the troops that he was abreast of the efforts being put in place by the troops to respond appropriately to the challenges.

Major General Mahmuda pointed out that, from the reports he has received thus far, the troops are doing very well, urging them to sustain the aggressive posture in their AOR in combating the contemporary security challenges. He reassured them that the NA, under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has effectively prioritised their welfare in line with his Command Philosophy, which is anchored on the “Soldiers First Concept.” This, he said, has been buttressed sufficiently through the recent salary increment in appreciation of their services to a grateful nation and humanity.

Major General Mahmuda, however, said, to whom much is given, much is also expected. He urged them to reciprocate what the NA and the President and Commander-in-Chief are doing to enhance troops’ welfare. He charged them to remain the Corps of proud professionals that they are known for. The GOC ended his address with a clarion call to the troops to up their game and make the NA and the nation proud.

Earlier, the Commander, 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Jibrin Garba, welcomed the GOC and his entourage to the Brigade. He briefed the GOC on the operational disposition of the Brigade and other sundry matters under his watch.
