TROOPS RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIMS, ARREST 12 SUSPECTS, RECOVER WEAPONS IN PLATEAU

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued two kidnapped victims, arrested 12 suspected criminals and recovered locally fabricated weapons and ammunition during separate operations across Plateau State. The operations, conducted on Saturday, September 19, 2026, followed credible intelligence on criminal activities in parts of Jos North, Bassa and Mangu LGAs. Troops of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12, raided suspected hideouts at Shere, Gwafan and Maza Hills, arresting 11 suspects.

Two victims abducted from Gwafan Community on September 18 later identified three of the arrested suspects as alleged members of the syndicate responsible for their abduction.

In Bassa LGA, troops of Sector 3 conducted a cordon-and-search operation, recovering one locally fabricated rifle and arresting a suspect. Meanwhile, troops of Sector 8 in Mangu apprehended another suspect during a patrol along the Tul–Ntam–Angwan Mata–Deng-Deng axis and recovered a locally fabricated automatic weapon, nine rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and a mobile phone. The suspects remain in custody for further investigation and intelligence exploitation aimed at identifying other members of the criminal networks and apprehending fleeing suspects.

Commander, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended the troops and also urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies, assuring the people of Plateau State of the operation’s commitment to protecting lives and property and consolidating peace across the state.
