NIGERIAN ARMY DONATES EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS COMMISSIONS COAS SPECIAL INTERVENTION PROJECTS IN ERUWA OYO STATE

The Nigerian Army has donated educational materials, commissioned the remodelled VIP and Physiotherapy sections, alongside a solar-powered boreholes at the General Hospital, Eruwa, Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The projects, executed under the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Projects, were facilitated by
General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA, Major General Oluremi Ayobami Fadairo. Delivering the welcome remarks at the ceremony, Major General OA Fadairo expressed his delight at giving back to his home community through the intervention. He emphasized that the Nigerian Army’s efforts in maintaining safety and security go beyond kinetic operations, saying it extend into community development initiatives that enhance public welfare. He noted that healthcare and access to potable water are fundamental needs, and the interventions would provide a dignified environment for rehabilitative care while ensuring reliable water supply for improved hygiene and sanitation.

Urging the beneficiary on adequate maintenance of the projects, Maj Gen Oluremi Fadairo said, “This project is not a favour, but a gesture of partnership. Its sustainability depends not only on those who provided it, but equally on those who benefit from it,” He urged the people of Eruwa to take ownership and ensure proper maintenance of the facilities. General Fadairo also appreciated the COAS for granting him the privilege to give back to his community.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W Shaibu, in his remarks, commended Major General Ayobami Fadairo for his commitment to community development. He highlighted that the Special Intervention Scheme provides senior officers with an institutional platform to address pressing community needs, thereby strengthening civil-military relations and public trust.“The remodelling of Eruwa General Hospital is not merely an infrastructural undertaking but a deliberate investment in human security, community resilience and sustainable development,” Lt Gen Shaibu noted.

He further revealed that the Nigerian Army has successfully executed and commissioned over 260 projects across the six geopolitical zones, spanning healthcare, education, water supply, roads, community facilities and renewable energy.The COAS reiterated the Army’s loyalty to the Constitution and its commitment to constructive engagement with communities nationwide. He extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his strategic guidance and steadfast support, as well as to the Government of Oyo State, traditional institutions, and local authorities whose cooperation ensured the successful completion of the projects.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by senior military officers, traditional leaders, hospital management, community members, and invited guests. Some of the dignitaries in attendance are, the Commissioner of Health, Oyo State; Deputy Commandant Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, Maj Gen AO Oyelade; , GOC 81 Division, Major General AA Babalola, Major General SO Adejimi, Commandant Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, the Eleruwa of Eruwa, His Royal Majesty Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola; the Commissioner of Police Oyo State; the Chairperson Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association 82 Division Chapter and wife of the facilitator, Mrs Hilda Ijeoma Fadairo and hundreds of community members.

On behalf of the people of Eruwa, the Eleruwa expressed appreciation to the COAS for counting the community worthy of such projects. He assured that the facilities would be properly maintained and prayed for the success of the NA in all its operations.
