In furtherance of the ongoing Community Safety Partnership Initiative across the state, the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, psc(+), mnips, JP, Yesterday, 27/10/2026, concluded the engagement at the Isiala Ngwa Area Command. The interactive session brought together Divisional Police Officers, the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa North, traditional rulers, women and youth representatives, and local community security personnel.
Concerns raised by stakeholders centred on the proposed revival of Nvosi Police Station, farmer-herder conflicts, protection of informants, improved Police-vigilante collaboration, training of local security personnel, inadequate operational vehicles, theft, activities of scrap dealers, bail-related complaints, and the need for heightened vigilance during this festive season and ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Responding, the CP directed the Area Commander and the DPO to assess the situation at Nvosi Police Station and report back to him. He also requested a meeting with farmers-herders at the Command Headquarters to address their concerns. Emphasising unity of purpose, he ruled out inter-agency rivalry and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to training and integrating local security groups into its operations. He explained that this commitment was already being implemented, as local community security groups were included in the Command’s recent training programmes.
The CP further highlighted the ongoing motorcycle patrols covering both motorable and difficult-to-access areas, assuring residents of strengthened security during the festive season and election period. He encouraged collaboration with traditional rulers but clarified that operational activities would not be disclosed in every instance, particularly where investigative considerations require discretion.
Reiterating the Inspector-General of Police’s and the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on misconduct and extortion, the CP stressed that the Command’s X-Squad would intensify its monitoring and apprehend any officer found engaging in unprofessional conduct while on duty, while the CP’s dedicated line was given to stakeholders to volunteer information
As part of the engagement, the CP visited His Royal Highness, Eze Linus Nmba, and his cabinet members to seek their continued support in achieving security . The traditional ruler assured the Command of their cooperation and support in maintaining peace and security.
As the Community Safety Partnership Initiative is sustained across Area Commands and Divisions, the Abia State Police Command reiterates its commitment to intelligence-led and community policing, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police. Residents are encouraged to continue providing timely and credible information to support crime prevention and public safety
