CROSS RIVER STATE POLICE COMMAND

PRESS RELEASE

MAKE YOUR CONTACT NUMBERS AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS OF YOUR COMMUNITIES — CP AJO ORDUE DIRECTS DPOS

…*Says move will strengthen community policing, intelligence gathering and rapid response to crime.*

1. The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, psc, mnips, mspsp, has directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to make their official contact numbers readily accessible to members of their respective communities to strengthen community policing, improve intelligence gathering and enhance rapid response to crime.
2. The directive was issued during the Command’s end-of-month Strategic Officers’ Meeting held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the Police Officers’ Mess, Moore Road, Calabar. The CP charged Area Commanders, DPOs and Heads of Departments (HODs) to deepen engagement with the communities they serve, emphasising that accessible police leadership would encourage prompt reporting of crimes, suspicious activities and emerging security threats.
3. CP Ordue explained that the directive aligns with the community-oriented policing initiative of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, which is being cascaded through the Police Command structure to divisional levels. He noted that stronger communication between the Police and residents would facilitate the flow of actionable intelligence, promote public confidence and support timely intervention in security-related incidents.
4. To ensure effective implementation, the CP charged Area Commanders and DPOs to publicise their official contact numbers through community meetings, police station noticeboards, town unions, market associations, engagements with community leaders and other public events within their respective Areas of Responsibility (AORs). They are also expected to keep the contact information current and accessible, with implementation subject to routine supervisory monitoring to ensure that the directive translates into practical benefits for residents.
5. The Command urges members of the public to cooperate with the Police and utilise the appropriate channels to report security concerns. For urgent security assistance and complaints, the following contacts are available:
* Command Control Room — Emergency and security reports: 0704 177 7060, 0705 335 5415
* Police Complaint Response Unit (CRU) — Police-related complaints: 0813 708 3052, 0813 409 6900

The Cross River State Police Command reiterates its commitment to accessible, responsive and intelligence-led policing, while encouraging residents to make timely reports and work with the Police to promote safety and security across the State.
